Its hard to figure out what paintings should go here. What is abstract? The definition seems simple enough….Abstraction literally means the distancing of an idea from objective referents. That means, in the visual arts, pulling a depiction away from any literal, representational reference points. You can also call abstract art nonrepresentational art. We have several paintings that just don’t fit the certain mold. Instead of making a miscellaneous junk drawer page for paintings I’m just going to put them here.
Abstract Forest Reflections
Abstract Poppies
Abstract Poppies is a level 1 beginner friendly abstract painting. We start by coating our 12 by 16 canvas with a first layer of gray paint gradually tinting it darker the farther down we go. After a dry time we play with pallet knives (or piece of thin straight cardboard), bubble wrap, or stencils to really grunge up our piece. Its super fun to play with different textures and paint in a more abstract way
Abstract Sunflower
The Abstract Sunflower is a fun level 1 abstract painting. We do a gray base coat layer on the canvas gradually tinting darker the farther down we go. After that initial dry time we get to play with pallet knives, bubble wrap and painting our sunflower in.
Birds on a Wire
Birds on a Wire is a level 1 beginner friendly painting. With an abstract background, simple bird silhouettes, and some bundling twine we can each create a super unique masterpiece.
Uncaged
Uncaged is a Level 1 beginner friendly painting. Uncaged was originally painted to go with one of our Paint Your ART Out fundraisers bringing awareness to domestic violence. All though there are many meanings behind this painting, it was originally painted to represent gaining independence, gathering the pieces of yourself back, and turning away from that scary situation. Whatever message you take away or make your own, it is a very vocal piece.

Love is light is a fun abstract Valentines day painting. It is a level 2 beginner friendly painting.

Stained Glass Sunflower is a level 2 beginner friendly painting. Its an easy to moderate skill as we will be making measurements and using paint brush control to stay in the lines.

Bear Astaire is a level 2 beginner friendly monochromatic painting. Painting on a 12 by 16 with just Black and White make it very palette friendly.
Even just being in black and white, the subject matter makes this painting super fun and customizable in any color.
